Samuel Harvey Named Vaughn Goaltender of the Month

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced that Samuel Harvey is the VAUGHN Goaltender of the Month for January.

Harvey has had a near perfect start to the new year, winning five out of his seven games, with the others being a loss in overtime and a shootout loss. With no losses in regulation time, he’s effectively helped his team collect 12 points and earn the third spot in the western division standings.

This is the second time that the 19-year-old goalie has been given the top goaltender’s monthly title this season and his stats show why. He’s closed out the month with an impressive 1.27 goals-against average, as well as a .957% save percentage.

Harvey has demonstrated that consistency is key by finishing six out of his last seven games with a .925% save percentage or higher. Even his worst performance of the month, a .912% percentage against the Armada where he let in three goals on 34 shots, is nothing to scoff at.

The Huskies’ goaltender also added another shutout to his repertoire, giving him a total of three for the current season, as well as tying him for first in the league in the category. Harvey also has the top spot in many other statistical categories such as save percentage (.931%), goals-against average (2.09) and wins (24).
