Roy and Beck Playing for Team Canada at the 2023 World Juniors

The stage is set for Moncton and Halifax., as Hockey Canada finalized its roster for the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship. Among the selections was forward Joshua Roy of the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

Roy, the Montreal Canadiens’ 2021 5th round pick (150th overall) and the QMJHL’s 2021-22 scoring leader, is representing Canada for the second consecutive season. Through 26 games with the Phoenix, Roy has been strong, posting 18 goals and 25 assists (43 points) over 26 games.

After an injury to Colton Dach, Owen Beck was added to Team Canada’s roster on January 1st. The Port Hope, ON native joined the team ahead of its quarterfinal match against Slovakia. Beck, the Montreal Canadiens’ 2022 2nd round pick (33rd overall) is enjoying another fine season for the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL, notching 17 goals and 23 assists (40 points) over 30 games.

The 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship began on December 26th, with Canada kicking off its tournament schedule on Dec. 26 against Czechia.
