Roy and Beck win gold at 2023 WJC

Congratulations to Joshua Roy, Owen Beck and Team Canada on capturing gold at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Halifax!

Roy, the Montreal Canadiens’ 2021 5th round pick (150th overall), finished tied for fourth in tournament scoring with 11 points in 7 games (5 goals and 2 assists) and set up Dylan Guenther’s golden goal in a 3-2 win by Team Canada over Team Czechia in overtime. Roy captured gold at the tournament for the second consecutive year.

After an injury to Colton Dach, Beck was added to Team Canada’s roster on January 1st. The Port Hope, ON native joined the team ahead of its quarterfinal match against Slovakia. Beck, the Montreal Canadiens’ 2022 2nd round pick (33rd overall) is enjoying another fine season for the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL, notching 17 goals and 23 assists (40 points) over 30 games. His call-up to Team Canada proved pivotal, as he played hard minutes for the team across 3 games, posting 1 assist in that span.
