Cedric Paquette and Mathieu Joseph are Stanley Cup Champions!

The Tampa Bay Lightning are the 2020 Stanley Cup Champions.

The franchise’s second-ever Stanley Cup was secured with a convincing 2-0 victory over the Stars in Game 6 on Monday, September 28th.

Forwards Cedric Paquette and Mathieu Joseph were amongst the many players on the team to win their first Stanley Cup. Paquette contributed 18 points in 61 regular games, and another 3 points in 25 playoff games, including a primary assist on the insurance goal in Game 6 to make it 2-0. Joseph contributed 7 points in 37 regular season games with the club.

The Bolts had been knocking on the Cup door in recent years, making the final four in four of the last six seasons. The Lightning had won more games, scored more goals and played in more playoff series than any team over that span. In 2015 they lost to Chicago 4-2 in the Stanley Cup final.

During one of the most unique Stanley Cup Playoffs ever to take place, the Lightning found a way to get it done. “To win in this place at this time under these circumstances is remarkable and frankly overwhelming,” said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

Congratulations to Cédric and Mathieu for winning hockey’s ultimate prize!
