Mathieu Joseph & Saint John Win QMJHL Championship

The Saint John Sea Dogs are 2017 QMJHL Champions following a 5-1 road victory over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Mathieu Joseph finished the game with four assists, taking over the QMJHL Playoff scoring lead with 32 points (13-19–32) in 18 games.

Saint John’s journey to becoming President Cup Champions saw them play to an overall record of 16-2, earning successive sweeps over Rimouski and Val-d’Or in the first and second rounds. They proceeded to eliminate the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 4-2 in the QMJHL Semi-Final before ousting Blainville-Boisbriand in four straight games.

The Sea Dogs will make their third Mastercard Memorial Cup appearance in Windsor when they take on the host Spitfires to open the tournament.
