Lafreniere, Harvey & Spence Honoured at 2019 Golden Puck Awards

The Golden Puck Awards, presented annually by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, were held at the Capitole Theatre in Quebec City. Twelve of the most deserving players of 2018-19 season were honoured for their accomplishments. Alexis Lafreniere, Samuel Harvey and Jordan Spence received several of the most prestigious accolades.

Awards

Michel-Brière Trophy – Most Valuable Player

Alexis Lafrenière, Rimouski Océanic

At the ripe age of 17, Alexis Lafrenière became the key cog of the Océanic, producing 25 more points than his impressive rookie campaign. He led his team in points (105) and assists (68), a total which ranked second in the QMJHL.

Jacques-Plante Trophy – Goaltender with the best goals-against-average

Samuel Harvey, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies

Harvey was stellar in front of the Huskies net all season. He had his best season, setting a high in wins (35), goals-against-average (2.08) and save percentage (0.926%). In his 43 games started, he only lost eight times.

Rookie of the Year

Jordan Spence, Moncton Wildcats

Spence, 17 years-old at the beginning of the season, finished first among rookies in assists (43) and was also the leading scorer among all first-year defensemen with a total of 49 points.

Paul-Dumont Trophy – Personality of the Year

Alexis Lafrenière, Rimouski Océanic

Lafrenière represented Canada at the World Juniors and the CIBC Canada-Russia Series, as well as participated in the 2019 QMJHL Winter Classic. He was named Player of the Week in the QMJHL twice, and once more at the CHL level.
