Mitchell Russell Selected in the First Round of the OHL Draft

Owen Sound Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray, and the Organization announced that they selected right wing, Mitchell Russell with the 20th overall pick in the 2017 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

Mitchell, a Barrie native, played out of the Barrie Jr. Colts Minor Midget AAA program and recorded 58 points in 2016-17 thanks to 35 goals and 23 assists.

“We’re thrilled to add a player of Mitchell’s calibre to this organization,” DeGray said. “He possesses high end skill that he puts to use in all areas of the ice. Mitchell fits the style of play we want in Owen Sound and we’re excited to make him a part of our family.”

OHL Central Scouting describes Mitchell as “using his skating and skill to take over games when he decides to. He is explosive off the mark and can beat most defenders with his speed. He shoots the puck well and has a quick release which surprises a lot of goalies.”
