Lafreniere & Harvey shine as Players of the Month

Alexis Lafreniere (12GP-10G-11A-21P) and Samuel Harvey (8-0-0, 1.33 GAA, .948 SV%, 2 shutouts) have been honoured as the best QMJHL performers of January 2019. Lafreniere was named Forward of the Month while Harvey was tabbed as Goatlender of the Month.

Rejoining the Oceanic immediately following his stint with Team Canada at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, Lafreniere hit the ground running. The 17-year old registered at least a point in all but one game played during January. Highlights of Lafreniere’s 21-point month were a pair of three-point outings, a two goal, two assist effort on January 27th against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and four game winning tallies over the course of his final six outings of the month The first overall selection in the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft enters the month of February as the third leading scorer in the league with 74 points in 43 games. His 48 assists are good for second in the league.

Harvey, a second-round selection of Rouyn-Noranda in the 2014 QMJHL Entry Draft and member of the 2016 President Cup Champion Huskies, ranks second on the league leaderboard in several categories, including wins (26), goals against average (2.01), save percentage (.925%). He is also tied for second place in shutouts (four). Harvey was invited to NHL training camp with the Montreal Canadiens in 2018. The 20-year old from Alma, Quebec has reeled off a sparkling 19-3 record since the start of November for a Huskies squad that leads the league in fewest goals against.
