Frederick Gaudreau Makes NHL Debut with the Nashville Predators

On October 22nd, Frederick Gaudreau was recalled from the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals by the Nashville Predators and played in his first career NHL game the same night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Predators went on to win the game 5-1 while Gaudreau received 9:01 in ice time and blocked three shots.

Gaudreau’s rise to the NHL was an unlikely one. After going undrafted in the QMJHL, he played three years in the league for both the Shawinigan Cateractes and the Drummondville Voltigeurs. Gaudreau was a member of the Cateractes team that won the Memorial Cup in 2012.

Gaudreau would once again go undrafted to the NHL, but earned an AHL contract with the Milwaukee Admirals. In his sophomore season with the team, he would go on to earn a two-way NHL contract with the team’s parent club, the Nashville Predators, earn a spot in the AHL all-star game that same year, and play in his first career NHL game less than one year later.
