Dufour and Roy invited to National Junior Team selection camp

Hockey Canada has named the #1 and #2 scorers in the QMJHL, forwards William Dufour and Joshua Roy, to the 2022 World Junior Hockey Championship selection camp roster. Both players were among the 35 invited to the camp in preparation for the upcoming national tournament taking place at home in Canada, in Edmonton and Red Deer, from December 26, 2021 to January 5, 2022.

Dufour, the New York Islanders’ 2020 5th round pick (152nd overall), has been a dominant force for the Saint John Sea Dogs in the QMJHL this season, as he currently rides a 12-game point streak to push his impressive season totals to 41 points (19 goals, 22 assists) in 24 games, good for 2nd in league scoring.

Roy, the Montreal Canadiens’ 2021 5th round pick (150th overall), the QMJHL’s scoring leader and neck and neck with Dufour for the lead, sits atop the league leaderboard with 42 points (15 goals, 27 assists) in 23 games for the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

Canada will play exhibition games on December 19 against Switzerland, December 20 against Sweden and December 22 against Russia. They will begin tournament play on Boxing Day against the Czech Republic.
